About four years ago, back when they were open, we decided to get an HDTV at Circuit City, and we bit the bullet and got this. Recently, my Dad moved out, and decided to by his own TV, so we got to keep this. After 4 years, this TV is still in great condition, and couldn't be better. Picture quality is beautiful, very crisp and nice, nothing not to like. Sound quality is average for any TV, pretty good. Reliability is great, not even a single problem, and that's just great. The only thing might be it's looks- the back is still bulky and big, but the front looks great. If you can find it anywhere now, buy this TV. It's very reliable, great picture, and and overall amazing performance.

This is a good looking TV with a great picture. However, I think it's long-term quality is suspect. You should know that the bulb (about $120) only lasts about 2 years, so figure this into your buying decision. I've also read a lot of "fix-it" sites that claim after a few years, parts start malfunctioning. I've had this TV for about 3+ years, on my second replacement bulb, and now the TV is shutting off randomly. Yay.
It's a good TV, but for the price, consider it disposable after a few years.

For approximately the first two years that we owned this product, it worked great. After that...the TV began to spontaneously turn off by itself. We had purchased the extended warrantly, so we called a repair tech in. He said that it was the bulb and replaced it. This did not solve the problem. Now the TV turns off during every use at different intervals, but sometimes does so every 2 or 3 minutes. It can't be turned back on right away, because even though the lights on the front will come on (in green)nothing else will happen. A wait of 30 seconds or more is needed for it to come all the way back on again. After looking online, I read that this problem is not uncommon to this TV. I guess we are going to call the repairman again. Hopefully he fixes it this time and doesn't just say it's our bulb or some other lower cost item, since our warrantly is only good for a few more months. I am so disgusted with this TV, which was thousands of dollars. You'd think it would last longer than a couple of years.

I have this TV for little more than 2 1/2 years. It has great picture quality in HD when it works. Non-HD is Okay with Settelite programming, but poor with Cable, but his may be the issue with the way both service works.
Real problem is the quality of product. Recently, I started seeing white DEAD PIXELs on my TV. "Dead pixel" are those that does not change. I contected the Tech service 'live call' on internet. Not much help, except told me to unplug TV for couple of mins and restart. Which I did but did not clear the problem. That's all the Tech support can do for this problem. They suggested to have my TV checked out by their repair technician, which could cost me in "Hundreds". I am in process of contacting the repair department and will get an estimate. Will post the remaining story here. But as per, Tech on live call, this could be MDM unit (micro device mirror), which has millions of micro mirrors and may have been a problem or the board where it controls the mirrors. When I searched on google about the DEAD PIXEL DLP SAMSUNG, I found so many people has this problem. Add to this is the horrible customer support that they had. One person has to go throug the Atterney General to get refund. Eitherway, TV of 2 1/2 year should not have this problem. This is basic QUALITY issue with SAMSUNG and they knows this very well. All they want is your $$$.
I am going to stay away from the SAMSUNG product for all my feature purchase.

Had mine 2+ years and loved it since the minute I opened it. Did a bulb change for the first time today and I bought it as a refurbished unit. Great picture, reliable unit and very accessible for routine maintenance. I even talked to Samsung support before I did the bulb change and *gasp* they WEREN'T terrible at all. I (obviously) highly recommend this TV.
